Work on this website began in June 2002 initially as a distraction to a larger site I was working on which went live at http://www.shambles.net in September 2002.

From a humble amateur photographer as a student to becoming a teacher of photography, a 'photo library co-owner' (now brought out by one of the big guys) .... to being a part-time 'stock photographer' ... and now redefining my lifestyle.

This site is used to display only a few of the thousands of images I've taken over the past twenty five years, many of them in S.E.Asia. Although most images were taken on transparency film I have moved well into digital photography over the past few years although I'm not willing to let go of the traditional techniques and equipment for some time yet.

I am now based in Thailand after having been in Hong Kong for 24 years..

As stated at the top ... images displayed here may be used freely by schools, students and teachers for non-commercial purposes providing that an acknowledgement is given to "Chris Smith Photography" .... others who may be interested may also use the images BUT for a fee ... you may also like access to the higher resolution versions as those on this site are only screen resolution.
